Teacher satisfaction low

Last week, Ed Week included the results of a survey indicating teachers' job satisfaction is lower than it has been in two decades. The author of the survey suggest the declining education budgets is a reason. Certainly in Vermont, I see teachers involved with difficult contract negotiations and even strikes which indicates this is a contributing factor.

I have to wonder however, about the role of NCLB and the constant media coverage of the problems in education on our satisfaction.
