Subject: VAMLE News: Scholar Leader Dinner and MGI

The VAMLE-NELMS Scholar Leader Dinner will be held at Plumley Armory, Norwich University, in Northfield, Vermont on June 4th, 6:00pm. Two students from each school with grades 5-8 are selected as outstanding scholars and leaders to be honored at this dinner. The dinner is free to students from member schools. Non-member school will pay $40 per student. Tables of 4, 8 and 10 are available for reservation. Last year, over 300 people attended this premiere middle school event, including teachers, principals, parents and grandparents. Each student receives a plaque and a photograph. Each eligible school has received nomination materials. Please choose your students and make your reservations now. Space is limited. For more information, go to http://www.nelms.org

 

The Middle Grades Institute will be held at the University of Vermont, June 23-27 for educators working with students, ages 10-15. With Personalize Learning Plans (PLPs) mandated for all Vermont middle and high schools, this summer's institute will model the development of a PLP in each participant's focus area. Three graduate credits are available from Johnson State College, Saint Michael's College, or UVM. 45 professional development hours are granted for those who do not want graduate credit. Participants take only one of nine focus areas, with four areas that can be applied toward the Vermont middle grades endorsement. The cost: $1750 for credit; $1250 for non-credit.
