Game-based learning

Game-based learning is one of the "new ideas" in education that has Ben kicking around as a method of engaging the digital generations. Unfortunately, some have interpreted that as "have 'em do pages of multiple-choice questions and then reward them with a few minutes of simple arcade games."

Most game-based learning draws on a more sophisticated view of games, however. The puzzles and problems that focus attention in these is an example:
